THE ASSIGNMENT
For this exam I was tasked to design a new cover for a popular magazine called the VPRO. This design had to match the given theme, ' De lijn' (Translated: The Line)
The first thing I did was brainstorm the many interpretations of 'The Line', after that i researched the magazine (VPRO) and looked at previous covers of theirs to get a feel of their style.
Before getting to my eventual design, I first had to sketch out my ideas to see which ones would work, and which ones would not. After that, I got to work.
MY INTERPRETATION OF THE THEME
For my intrepretation of the theme 'The Line' I went with the dutch saying 'iemand aan het lijntje houden' (to string someone along) and used it to show the exploitative treatment of 'lower class' workers such as airport staff, garbage men/women.
